1Pe 2:13 Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, (14) or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right. (15) For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.
According to the First Amendment of the Constitution we have been guaranteed certain rights by law which states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. As Americans we have rights many around the would only dream of. Unfortunately, we have abused these rights so as to promote certain agendas and ideas. Paul reminds us in a couple of places that we are to use our liberty (freedom) to serve one another:
1Cor 8:9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
When the Lord split Israel into two nations, Northern and Southern Kingdom, both ended up in captivity due to sinful lifestyles. Judah watched as the Northern Kingdom turned from God. They were warned repeatedly and even had living examples of what not to do BUT they would not learn. Isiash warned that:
Isa 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
America, just as Israel, has used clever and deceptive words, we have changed our laws for evil intent, and have blurred moral issues and excuse & wink at our sin. We look at our acts of evil and call it good, and we look at the good of others and call it evil. Isaiah is describing a deep state of spiritual, ethical and moral confusion.
America is in deep waters and we are drowning in our own filth. God reminds Solomon in II Chronicles 7:14:
2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
We can’t wait until November elections. We must fall on our face and begin to pray for the repentance of America and a return to righteousness. God told Abraham if he found 10 righteous in Sodom and Gomorrah He would refrain Himself, but He couldn’t find any! We are in terrible spiritual condition, but we are not beyond salvation and it’s not too late.
Psa 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
America still has people who love this country and will fight for our freedoms. In a couple of weeks we will celebrate our nation’s birthday, the 248th. In just the past 50 or 60 years we have turned away from God but it’s never too late to return to the foot of the Cross and repent.
Pray for the salvation and return of America to righteousness. Pray for a changing of our governmental leaders. Remove the ungodly and unbelievers from the White House, the Supreme Court, Senate and House of Representatives. We are a Christian nation. Our leaders should be God fearing Christians who lead with a holy reverence of scriptures and respect for Jesus Christ.
