Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; (25) and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, (24)not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. (NASB)
In today’s world, we are living in a time when the word influencer gets thrown around a lot. Tic Tok influencer, You Tube influencer, Social Media influencer. The reality is that the demonic realm is competing for your attention and wants to influence your thoughts and behavior. The definition of Influence is the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.
The forces of hell are battling to cause defeat and chaos in our lives. Before there were influencers, Paul tells us in Eph 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Every moment we live, we contend for the faith against spiritual wickedness. Peter tells us in 1Pet 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
The first time the word church is used in the Bible is in Matthew 16:18 when Jesus says the "upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail." The Greek word for church is Ekklesia-church or assembly. Another word used often in the Book of Acts is, koinōnia-fellowship. Often we see these words used interchangeably describing Christian fellowship in the New Testament church. A wise man once said what you feed grows. When we feed the spirit man we grow stronger in Christ and when we feed the carnal man the strongholds get stronger and more deeply imbedded in our life.
Our journey on this earth will bring many influencers into our lives. We must learn to discern right and wrong, evil and righteous influencers. Satan wants us to compromise and allow things to creep in so as to change our scriptural and spiritual foundations. We must learn to flip his tactics and become an influencer of righteousness.
Our opening scripture tells us to stimulate one another to love and good deeds and not to stop coming together and to encourage one another as we see the return of Christ getting closer. Everyday we are influencers and also being influenced by what we feed our spirit. Paul warns us in 2 Cor 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; This is a spiritual battle that will continue until the Day of the Lord. So how do control what influences us?
Stop believing the lies of the devil – If the Word you’re a healed, you are healed. If it says you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus believe it and stand on it!
Come to church and be influenced by the right Spirit. Become an encourager and worshipper. Not just when it is convenient.
Become self disciplined. Remember, your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. I Cor 6:19 Jam 4:8
Remember you are not the alone – seek fellowship with other believers. Heb 10:24-25 Gal 6:1-2
Keep sowing seeds (Spiritual, Materially, Emotionally) Deut 28:2, Mal 3:10-11
The Holy Spirit wants to be our influencer and the only way that can happen is to draw near and be willing to be discipled. Be influenced by the right Influencer!
Let us not lose heart in doing good,
or in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.
Gal 6:9
